From the Start Service

Every family's journey is different. Sometimes pregnancy, birth or the early years bring unexpected challenges, difficult news or uncertainty about what lies ahead.

From the Start offers free, compassionate, non clinical emotional support for families across Tayside from Pregnancy through to approximately eight years old.

You don't need to have all the answers and you do not need to face the journey alone.

Who can we support?

We support families experiencing concerns or challenges relating to pregnancy, birth, their child's health development or additional support needs.

  • Complicated or high risk pregnancies and concerns identified before birth

  • Neonatal care and preparing to bring your baby home.

  • Complex health needs, disabilities or developmental differences

  • Waiting for assessments, answers or a possible diagnosis

  • Feeling overwhelmed, isolated or uncertain about the future

A formal diagnosis is not required.

How can we help?

Support that works for your family

Our Family Support Workers take time to understand what matters to you. Support may include telephone or online conversations, face to face meetings at home or in the wards, advocacy and help accessing services. We work alongside clinical and community professionals but do not replace medical care.

Growing with your family

As your child grows and family circumstances change, Whole Family Support may become a more appropriate next step. Where suitable, our team can explore a supported transition with you. â€‹
